Hi, When I look at user roles then i can see there is two different types.
There is the one wordpress gives the user is signing up.
Then there is the role eMember is giving.
– – –
How do i make sure that the roles follow each other in both places at all time ?
So the role in wp always is identical with eMember (Both ways).
The reason for this is that i use mycred for points and mycred is using the wp roles.
Thanks.
April 30, 2015 at 11:26 pm #69830wzpModeratorIf the following are set, logins from either the WordPress or eMember side will be synced:
WP eMember –> Settings –> General Settings –> Automatically Create WordPress User
WP eMember –> Settings –> General Settings –> Automatically log into WordPress
WP eMember –> Settings –> General Settings –> Automatically log into eMember
When you setup your eMember levels, each can be assigned to an existing WprdPress role:
WP eMember –> Membership Level –> Role
Thus, when the member is assigned/switches to a specific membership level; their WP role will change.
If the following setting is enabled:
WP eMember –> Settings –> General Settings –> Preserve WordPress User Role
Then, if the member logs in from the WordPress side, their WordPress role will “stick” to the membership level “role” used to create the WordPress user.

Now everything have been created with the “Preserve WordPress User Role” ticked.
So if i now untick “Preserve WordPress User Role” will it then automatically update the wordpress user roles to follow the eMember user roles ?
May 2, 2015 at 8:27 am #69832hugblueMemberOr how do i change the things so both WP and Emember is following each. So that the eMember will be the one that 100% decides the user roles.
May 2, 2015 at 12:39 pm #69833wzpModeratorIf you DO NOT have “Preserve WordPress User Role” set, AND the user logs in from the eMember side:
- The WordPress role will “follow” the role of the current membership level.
If you DO have “Preserve WordPress User Role” set, AND the user logs in from the eMember side:
- The WordPress role will “stick” to the role assigned to it, when the WordPress account was created.
