I’ve been reading the eMember forum and documentation and I’d like to verify that my proposed scenario is possible:
I’d like to sell a digital product (site is in the design/debug stage using eStore integrated w/ PayPal Pro so buyer doesn’t leave our site) bundled with a subscription. The point of the subscription is so the buyer will have access to software upgrades and patches for a predetermined length of time. Can you please describe the flow?
-Add to Cart a digital product + subscription bundle (e.g. subscription will get 2 years of access to restricted pages with encrypted links to my amazon s3 account)
-Check Out using a form integrated on my site since I’m using PayPal Pro
-Redirect to Thank You with a link to the digital product
-Email to customer with link to the digital product
1. When and how does the user get the subscription logon information?
2. How many credit card charges will appear on the customer’s bill? I read that the API for products is different than the API for subscriptions. Will the customer only ‘check out’ one time?
3. Is the subscription essentially an add-on to the digital product with 0$ cost (e.g. I’d set up 1 eStore product w/o a subscription and 1 eStore product w/ a subscription at a higher price
August 1, 2013 at 5:56 am #56905adminKeymasterWhich of the following is true for you?
a) Do you actually plan to charge a recurring payment (for example: charge X amount every 2 years)?
or
b) Are you just going to charge them a one off fee to have access to the product and updates for 2 years?
You don’t have to charge recurring price for access to *some product*. You can charge an one time fee that gives them access to a membership level and in turn access to get a product.
Regardless of how you give your users access to your membership level, you can create member’s only page(s) that offer the download for product(s). Here is the documentation on creating member’s only download page:
You can create eStore products that gives access to a membership level (in the eMember plugin) and at the same time gives the downloadable items as usual when the customer purchase it:
August 2, 2013 at 5:15 pm #56906geddesMemberThanks for the reply. I had reviewed documentation and forum posts but wanted to be sure that the plugin would cover our scenario. I envision ‘B’ where we sell a digital product which is delivered to the customer via a ‘Thank You’ page w/ an encrypted download link to Amazon S3 and an email w/ an encrypted download link as well. In addition I would like the buyer to have access to member pages for product updates but I don’t want to charge separately for the membership. It sounds like this is possible and I will try this with the eMember plugin. Thanks for your help.

Here is another post that may be helpful to understand the one time and recurring payment button differences for membership:
