I’ve setup my online course according to instructions:
Member auto upgrade works as specified but members are not receiving emails when ‘Enable Automatic Upgrade Email Notification’ is checked and their account gets upgraded to new membership level.
I can send emails to members so that is not the problem. Only this automatic email notification is not working. I understand that emails are supposed to be sent as bulk every night. I’ve waited email overnight but not received any.
eMember is just installed to my server so it is fresh installation.

The nightly bulk tasks are NOT triggered by an “alarm” that goes off at midnight. They are kicked off by the first WordPress site access that occurs after the scheduled time for the nightly tasks. So… if you are just “kicking the tires,” and have no other members using your site; you need to “tickle” your site with a browser at 3 AM, and then come back at 5 AM to check for results.
You should also enable the debug logs, so that you can determine what is going on, and if the nightly events are really taking place.
September 18, 2018 at 6:07 pm #78561TuuliaSpectatorThanks for your response. However it didn’t help to solve the issue. I’ve several test members and logged in & out many times over 3 nights. No email is sent. Most likely nothing happens nightly. This is what I already know so could pls advice how to correct this problem.
September 19, 2018 at 4:41 am #78562wzpModeratorPlease enable the debug logs, and try another test. Then post the content of the debug logs, that cover the time from when you upgraded the account(s) to the next day.
September 19, 2018 at 5:04 am #78563adminKeymasterIf your members are getting auto-upgraded then the cronjob is working fine. No need to check the cronjob anymore.
Lets check if the plugin is actually executing the upgrade notification email sending code. Do you have the debug option enabled in the plugin? If not, please enable the debug option. Then wait for a day or two (when you think an email should have been sent). Share a link to your site so I can inspect the cronjob log file.
September 20, 2018 at 11:24 am #78564TuuliaSpectator– I’ve enabled logs
– I did reset logs yesterday evening
– I logged out in the evening
– I looged in this morning
– Members did not get auto-upgraded even though they should have
– No emails were received
– eMember_debug_cronjob.txt file is empty, other than header row
– ipn_handle_debug_eMember.txt is empty, other than header row
– The site is tuulialaine@com
I’ll keep testing and wait for tomorrow.
September 21, 2018 at 5:38 am #78565adminKeymasterI will log into your site and check the settings also. I have sent you an email for it.
