Hi, we’re using eMember to set up an online education website. The website will have different courses, each of which will have its own paid membership that will eventually expire. In order to keep users registered for the site we will set up a free membership that never expires (all paid memberships will be at a secondary membership level).
If a user signs up for one of the paid memberships (without signing up for a free membership), is there a way to automatically assign the free membership level to that user? Can the free membership be applied as their primary membership?
Or is there a way to force a user to create a free account before signing up for one of the paid memberships?

Yes, there is a way to adjust your membership signup/registration flow so a user needs to create a free account first before they make payment for any premium membership. Please check the 2nd option (Member Signup Scenario 2) from this documentation:
