    Hello,

I have a WordPress Mutlisite with a number of subsites that are used as functions within the benefits of membership. Ex. an Event Calendar and Buddypress.

What I’m wondering are your thought about how to protect each subdomain using one integrated database. Ex. They sign up for membership on the main site and then can post an event on the Event Calendar, or then Access Buddypress, but not before.

Thanks all for the help. I think this would be an amazing function if we can figure out a way to pull it off.

p.s I’ve tried all the membership plugins out there and I absolutely like your system all around the very best. Thanks for the great work and the great support.

    Cheers,

You basically control everything through the WordPress user roles. I am pretty sure Buddypress works based on what role a WordPress user has and then can give access according to the role.

So what you do is use eMember as the gateway. Don’t allow registration through buddypress. People can only create an account on your site using eMember’s signup process.

You will need to enable the “WordPress User Integration” (check the eMember settings menu). This will create a corresponding WordPress user account with the role you specify for specific membership levels of eMember.

This is what you can expect to happen:

    1) User lands on your site

    2) They signup using the signup process of eMember (either pay for the signup or register free)

    3) When they signup an WordPress account with the correct role (you set this when you set up the membership level in eMember) will be created for this member.

    4) When this member logs in Buddypress will pick up their user role and allow access to content that you have setup in Buddypress.

    Thanks for the help!

Do you know if there is a way to work with subsites within Multisite? (i.e, /calendar/) and allow posting to this subdomain (with the plugin) if they are a registered user on the ‘main’ site?

    Thanks again,

I don’t really know. There is probably a plugin or tweak out there that changes the default WordPress multi-site behavior. By default, Plugins on all the sub sites on a WP multi-site install will have a separate interface (kind of like installing the plugin on a different domain).
