I have new installation of eMember and it appear setup correctly. However, trying to login in the site using eMember member login page with my existing admin credentials throws this error prntscr.com/l5ya9g. I am still able to use the normal wordpress login form to login but prefer to use the member login page for all logins. How can I setup eMember to recognize my existing user (admin, etc) credentials?
WordPress uses “Users” and eMember uses “Members.” Users and Members have separate login credentials, and each can login, independently of each other.
There is the ability to “sync” User and Member accounts, such that a WP User login automagically triggers an eMember Member login; and vice versa. When accounts are synced, the User and Member names are the same, but the passwords can be different.
So… do you have/want the logins to be synced?
Thank you. Yes, I want the logins to be synced. Also, I will “lock out” the wp registration page and redirect all logins to use only eMember login page. However, for this to work correctly, the eMember login facility still need to allow users with backend wp admin access roles/capabilities (e.g. administrators, etc) but deny backend wp admin access to users without (e.g. members, etc)
Just turn off the following option from your general WordPress settings and you should be good:
WordPress Settings -> General -> Membership
Normally, your visitors are not going to know about WordPress. As long as you don’t have any links on your front-end that links to the wp login page, the visitors aren’t going to go there. The normal visitors should use the standard emember’s login form. You can put a link to the emember’s login page in your sidebar or navigation menu.
