Hello gang – I uploaded the plugin to my /wp-content/plugins folder. Upon seeing it and activating it in WP, I received this server error. See below. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STATIC, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or ‘}’ in /homepages/41/d168600039/htdocs/photo/wp-content/plugins/wp-eMember/emember_config.php on line 5

March 26, 2011 at 1:45 am #30693jc72303MemberI uninstalled the emember plugin via the download link emailed to me and re-installed it. I have php5 installed. I am still receiving the same error.
March 26, 2011 at 2:48 am #30694amin007ParticipantCan you please tell me the exact PHP version that you have installed on your server? To find out your PHP version simply download a plugin called “Minimum Requirement Checker” from this page and upload it to your server:
Go to the plugin’s settings menu and it will tell you your PHP version.
March 28, 2011 at 12:49 pm #30695jc72303MemberPHP Version 4.4.9
CURL Library is Present
ION Cube Decoder is NOT present
Maybe I need to update my PHP? Thanks for your help.
March 29, 2011 at 12:50 am #30696amin007ParticipantNow, that all makes sense. Your PHP version is 4.4.9 (not PHP 5). 4.4.9 is a very old version of PHP and you should contact your hosting provider and update it.
March 29, 2011 at 4:32 am #30697jc72303Memberok. Called server tech support because I was receiving Server 500 errors…
he told me to write .htaccess file and add the code AddType x-mapp-php5 .php. He said that would make php5 markup readable by the server. He logged into my server and verified my settings. Still I am receiving the parse error listed above when activating the eMember plugin. I am receiving the Internal server error when activating eStore plugin.
March 30, 2011 at 12:32 am #30698amin007ParticipantLets not leave it up to “It should… “. Its really simple to find out if your server is running PHP5 or not. Do what your server tech told you to do then go back to that PHP version checker plugin and checkout what it says. Does it say PHP 5? There are other PHP version checker plugins out there which you can also use to verify the result.
Until the checker plugin says that it has detected PHP5, your server is NOT running PHP5. I don’t care what your hosting tech says So bug him until you get PHP5 working properly on your site.
