Have you specified a Registration URL in the “Pages Settings” menu of the eMember plugin?
If you are using eStore then doing a test transaction with debug should reveal the issue. This post will help you with this:

June 16, 2010 at 12:27 pm #21795counterMemberThank you for the reply.
I’m using eMember to register free users, and eStore to register users that want pay for premium account.
The registration url is specified in the “Page Settings” menu.
All is working fine except the email edited from “Email settings (Prompt to Complete Registration)” that is not sent, the free user is created directly after the submit.
June 17, 2010 at 2:29 am #21796wpCommerceModeratorHi Counter, Did your run a test transaction with “Enable Debug” option checked?
June 17, 2010 at 2:37 am #21797amin007ParticipantPlease share the data from the “subscription_handle_debug.log” file after you run a transaction with the debug.
June 17, 2010 at 8:16 am #21798counterMemberI’ve registered a free account using the [wp_eMember_registration_form:end] form.
The problem is that the account is created directly without sending the confirmation link to check the email address.
I’ve 2 subscription_handle_debug.log:
/wp-cart-for-digital-products/subscription_handle_debug.log
/wp-eMember/ipn/subscription_handle_debug.log
In the first one I’ve only transactions with paypall payment and all is working fine.
The second one is empty.
My problem is that the email to complete the registration process for the free account is not sent and I need it to check if the registration is valid.
Thanks for your help
June 17, 2010 at 8:30 am #21799amin007Participant@counter, For the free membership there is no “registration completion email” that gets sent out. The “registration completion email” only gets sent out for paid memberships.
August 17, 2010 at 12:46 am #21800ps_michelleMemberIs there a way to change this so free members get the completion email as well? My client wants to ensure the email address given is valid.
August 17, 2010 at 6:14 am #21801amin007ParticipantNot at the moment. I will add a feature for this.
August 17, 2010 at 3:44 pm #21802ps_michelleMemberHow long will this take? I’m on a time crunch and my client is even willing to pay for it.
August 18, 2010 at 2:44 am #21803IvyMemberHi, I will send you an email regarding this feature request. Please let me know if you do not receive this email.
September 8, 2010 at 3:31 pm #21804MarionMemberHello,
I would like to know if this issue has been resolved. I also have a client who works in security systems software and he also requires that the Free Members are sent a verification email. I purchased this plugin on behalf of him as it was the only one I could find where Members can choose their own passwords (great!)
Also my client would like a second field for the password to be repeated on log in and..one more thing, is it possible to send an email with a link to the update membership details page rather than generating and emailing another password?
thanks in advance for your help.
September 9, 2010 at 1:55 am #21805amin007ParticipantThere is no outstanding issue on this. From time to time some users make a mistake in the setup and eventually if we jump on the server we can identify it and give the user guidance on what to do.
Free members are sent a verification email – Yes, you can do it (I have added a feature for this). This post will explain on how to do it:
“Second field for the password to be repeated on log in” – For the login you should not need to type the password twice. This is not a standard practice so we won’t be adding this option to the plugin.
“Send an email with a link to the update membership details page” – Yep, we should be able to do this.
July 20, 2011 at 3:53 pm #21806ramonaParticipantI’d like to get help too.
There is no email with the registration link. I use eStore+eMember and followed all the instructions in the video. There is a registration page (URL http://www.exklusivtext.de/registrierung). At the end there are no form fields but a message from the German language file line 71: define(“EMEMBER_FREE_MEMBER_DISABLED”, “Freie Mitgliedschaft ist auf dieser Internetseite nicht aktiviert!”);
In the English language file it is line 36: define(“EMEMBER_FREE_MEMBER_DISABLED”, “Free membership is disabled on this site!”);
First I detected one error in my eStore settings: I marked the testproduct as “Downloadable” (checked). So I unchecked it. I also unchecked “Send Emails to Buyer After Purchase” inside eStore.
Use Automatic Post Payment Processing (eStore) is checked.
Reference Text contains the level ID.
I think all pages are complete, e. g.:
Login-Page: http://www.exklusivtext.de/insider-login
Join in/Product page: http://www.exklusivtext.de/insider-werden
Profile edit page: http://www.exklusivtext.de/insider-profil
The only message the buyer gets is: Member Account Upgraded
This message comes from eStore, language file line 112.
“define(“WP_ESTORE_EMEMBER_ACCOUNT_UPGRADE_SUBJECT”, “Member Account Upgraded”);”
My email address in the WP settings is not the same as in eStore or eMember.
Do you like to see the log files?
I hope you can help, thank you in advance.
July 21, 2011 at 2:06 am #21807amin007Participant“The only message the buyer gets is: Member Account Upgraded” – This means the buyer is making payment for a membership while he/she is logged into eMember on this site or he/she is making payment using a PayPal email address that is already tied to an existing eMember account on this site. So the plugin is simply upgrading the existing account as expected (when existing member pays for a membership their account gets upgrade… there is no need to create a new account).
If you are trying to simulate a test for a new member registration please make a membership payment without being logged into eMember or using any PayPal email address that is already tied to an existing member account. Basically, if you are testing by yourself then create a real world scenario (your new buyers will not have an existing eMember account).
If you don’t have the “Allow Free Membership” checkbox checked in your settings menu (meaning you are not offering free membership) then if anyone goes directly to the registration page they will get a message that say “free registration is disabled”. A user will be able to register after you make a payment and click on the UNIQUE registration completion link sent to the buyer after the payment.
