E-member users required to login twice to access protected downloads?

We’ve set up e-members and have a protected page that links to several documents which are in a protected download folder. Users are required to login to see the protected page and then are required to login again to access the documents in the protected folder. Is there a way for the initial login to provide access to both the page and the protected download folder, without users having to login twice?

The first login is for eMember content, through the plugin. The second login (for the download) takes place using the .htaccess mechanism; which is built into your server. Because the two logins are separate mechanisms, there is no way to seamlessly “pass through” the login information.
