Hi folks
Finally have eStore humming along and I’m about to embark on the eMember adventure with membership levels and whatnot.
In reviewing the videos and other information that is out there on the Tips & Tricks site, it appears that eMember works like this:
User decides to opt in and clicks button which sends them to PayPal
They make payment, then the result of transaction somehow gets them added to the database or something for eMember. (That part is still a bit on the fuzzy side for me)
THEN they visit the site where they may log in. But they have to create login credentials? So I’m fuzzy on exactly how this ties to PayPal and how the process works, but I’m assuming it does.
So in the videos I watched it seemed they had to create their own login in order to see their membership level. Part of that process seems to involve them choosing a User Name. Knowing how I am with sites, I hate having to recall many different User Names. I also know the sites I like best simply assume my User Name is my E-Mail address. Hey, I remember that one easy peasy! So I was hoping that there was a way to set it up to be a bit seamless.
Just like eStore and all that simply present a page to the buyer with their encoded download links, I was sort of hoping the process could be streamlined a bit so that with purchasing a membership, after they make the PayPal transaction the next page would be the login page for the site. And somehow the E-Mail address would just be their User Name/Login ID and maybe they have an automatically assigned password or whatever.
Thoughts? Rick

Giving automatic username and password is not liked by most people. You can’t remember too many different passwords then how are you going to remember an auto generated password?
There is nothing stopping you from using your email address as the username if that’s what you can remember easily.
