I was having issue with download links work at all but after upgrading and trying a few things the download work in firefox but they do not in Internet Explorer and it is not just my site because when i had upgrade of estore set to me by email when i click those links which are on http://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com it opens IE and it looks as if it is going to start to download but it says unable to downlaod download.php from http://www.fanpagecustoms.com but if i copy and paste if firefox or if i am using firefox and click it on thank you page the downloads work.
Is anyone else having these issues with the download links working in Internet ExplorerOctober 26, 2010 at 7:51 am #25803amin007Participant
Are you using the W3 Total Cache Plugin? I am using it and if you check the “Enable HTTP (gzip) compression” field from the “Browser Caching” menu of that plugin then IE seems to confuse the download as a text file and tries to download it rather than serving the download the script is giving it. If you are using the W3 Total Cache plugin then uncheck that field and try the download.October 26, 2010 at 3:19 pm #25804
I just tried with IE and am encountering similar issues. Customer receives email fine but download link is not working properly even when I “allow” download.
In Firefox everything works beautifullyOctober 26, 2010 at 3:21 pm #25805
Oh – and I am not using the W3 Total Cache plugin, or any other caching plugin on this particular WP installation.

* What version of eStore is installed?
* Under WP eStore -> Settings -> Addon Settings -> Download Manager Related what are the settings in this section currently set for?
* What version of IE are you using?October 27, 2010 at 2:12 am #25807
I am using 4.1.7
And “automatically convert to relative URL” is checked off. I don’t see any other settings in that section
Oh – and I am using IE 8.06October 27, 2010 at 10:37 am #25808
Please upgrade to the latest (4.5.9 as of this morning) version and try again.

I am also having trouble with ie8. I have just purchased e-store version 4.9.2. Every person I can think of who has ie8 has the same issue, although the download works beautifully on Firefox.
If I try to download a PDF I can do this on both IE and Firefox.
If I try to download a zip file, then it works fine on Firefox, but on IE8 I get the following error:
Unable to download download.php from http://www.mysite.com
Unable to open this Internet site. The requested site is either not available or cannot be found. Please try again later.
I am not using any cache plugins on this site.
If you could assist I would be most grateful.
Thanks.February 10, 2011 at 2:35 pm #25812
The problem seems to be common, but because it is server configuration related everyone’s solution seems to be different.February 10, 2011 at 2:46 pm #25813
You might also try changing WP eStore -> Settings -> Addon Settings -> Download Manager Related Settings -> Download Method to # 3 or 6.
