ParticipantAre you using the W3 Total Cache Plugin? I am using it and if you check the “Enable HTTP (gzip) compression” field from the “Browser Caching” menu of that plugin then IE seems to confuse the download as a text file and tries to download it rather than serving the download the script is giving it. If you are using the W3 Total Cache plugin then uncheck that field and try the download.

MemberI just tried with IE and am encountering similar issues. Customer receives email fine but download link is not working properly even when I “allow” download.
In Firefox everything works beautifully

MemberOh – and I am not using the W3 Total Cache plugin, or any other caching plugin on this particular WP installation.
Thanks

Moderator* What version of eStore is installed?
* Under WP eStore -> Settings -> Addon Settings -> Download Manager Related what are the settings in this section currently set for?
* What version of IE are you using?

MemberHi,
I am also having trouble with ie8. I have just purchased e-store version 4.9.2. Every person I can think of who has ie8 has the same issue, although the download works beautifully on Firefox.
If I try to download a PDF I can do this on both IE and Firefox.
If I try to download a zip file, then it works fine on Firefox, but on IE8 I get the following error:
Unable to download download.php from http://www.mysite.com
Unable to open this Internet site. The requested site is either not available or cannot be found. Please try again later.
I am not using any cache plugins on this site.
If you could assist I would be most grateful.
Thanks.

ModeratorTry this?

The problem seems to be common, but because it is server configuration related everyone’s solution seems to be different.

ModeratorYou might also try changing WP eStore -> Settings -> Addon Settings -> Download Manager Related Settings -> Download Method to # 3 or 6.
