MemberHello … I’ve been using your plugin for about a month and I launched my site 2 weeks ago. So far, everything has worked great and you’ve provided excellent customer service to get me up and running.
Now that I have some real customer experience I’ve learned that in some cases the download link does not appear on the THANK YOU page and also in some cases (perhaps the same) the encrypted download does not work (they say it downloads the php and not the zip). For the majority everything works as it should, but there are still too many with issues.
When I investigate I learned that these customers are using a program called “download manager”. Even if I email them a new encrypted download, this program is not able to download it.
As a temporary workaround I’m having to send them a link to the file location on my server, which obviously is a potential threat to my success. So, can you provide some assistance … both for the download link not showing up and for those who use a “download manager”?
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

MemberHere’s a comment from one of my customers: “Im on Internet Explorer and use Download manager to download when I click on download comes up with a box saying the site sent a web page to IDM instead of the download.”

ParticipantI have tested this with a download manager that I use which works fine.
I have a feeling the MIME type is causing the issue. What type of files do you have for downloads (eg. .zip, .mp3)?

ParticipantI have the same problem. The file downloads when I use its actual link, it is a PDF file. But the generated link after a purchase, or one I manually generate from the admin functions do not work. The result is “Requested file not found.”
I embedded the token in a post, not a page, as the thank you page. That too appears blank with no link.
Here is a link that I generated for this product (one and only product I have). Its product ID is 1 and there are no products before or after it. The generated link shows the correct product description before the link below.

ParticipantI solved part of my problem, I need to experiment with the second part. The instructions under “Digital Product URL” section indicates that absolute or relative paths may be used, so I used the path as:
/wp-content/downloads/file.pdf
This did not work. I went back there after posting the note above and changed it to its absolute path like:
http://www.keptlight.com/wp-content/downloads/file.pdf
and the generated link correctly downloaded the file
Now I need to ask a friend to go purchase the product to see if the link will appear inside the “Thank you” post. I guess the important question here is this: Can the thank you URL point to a post or does it have to point to a page?

ParticipantThe “Thank You” URL can point to any URL so yes it can be a URL of a WordPress Post.

Participant@okgood, I added a few mimetype checks in the plugin downloader. I am pretty sure it will address the issue you were having. Please request and update for the plugin.

ParticipantI still have problems with the thank you page, another friend who tried it did not get the download link on the thank you page. Here is what I’m doing (I copied and pasted the link and the token from the settings and the actual post HTML view):
1. Under general shopping cart settings, into the field Return URL I enter the following:
http://www.keptlight.com/index.php/2006/06/thank-you/
2. On that post between two paragraphs I enter the following:
[wp_eStore_transaction_result:end]
3. The buyer makes the purchase, and returns to that page, but where the link would be is empty. The e-mail he receives has the correct link and it works.
Amin, on another note I have been expecting to hear from you or Ivy for the last several days regarding my other site psri.us. Is Ivy feeling better?
Thanks.

MemberHi, I am feeling better thank you for asking. An email regarding your other site went out a few minutes ago from Amin. Please let me know if you do not receive this email. As for the issue you are having I will need to take a quick look at this site. I will email you a site access request.

Member@amin007 I have a zip file for download. I have requested the update, but I’m curious to know if the update will fix both issues:
1) The download link is not appearing in some customer’s Thank You page
2) The download link does not work for those who have download manager

ParticipantIvy, thank you. My system is now working. Could you tell me what did you do that made it work? Or, what was I doing wrong on the keptlight.com site. I am grateful that it is working but would like to learn how not to make the same mistake again.
