    Hi,

I used the admin tools of estore to generate an encryted link for the download

of a zip file. The code worked great but today after testing my site it says the

link has expired. Is there a way to generate an encrypted download link for use as a free download that does not expire ?

    Thanks,

    Lee

You can increase the expiry time by increasing the value in the “” field of the settings menu but you can’t have download links that doesn’t expire.

Whats the point of having an encrypted link that doesn’t expire? it’s same as a normal link so why not just use the direct link?

If you want to give free downloads to your users using this system so the users don’t know where the download is coming from then you can use one of the two options

    1) Use a squeeze page type form (http://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/ecommerce/how-to-make-a-squeeze-page-using-the-wordpress-estore-plugin-126)

    2) Use the following shortcode that will put a “Download” button for a particular product which the visitors can use to download the item.

    [wp_eStore_download_now_button id=1]

1 is the product id of the product.

Could you clarify for me the download duration (both individual products and general settings)?

I set the duration of a particular product download to 96 hours, and the general settings said 24 hours. The second day of my product launch, no one could download the file, because the error message said “Link Expired” 3 minutes after purchase, but 24 hours after the first download. If I change the Global settings to 96 hours, the expiration message doesn’t happen. Does this mean I can only sell my product for 4 days? Do I need to go in and randomize something every day to keep this from happening?

Please tell us which specific setting we are talking about.

Ok, thanks. Using eStore 7.0.7, Manage Products -> Product ID 4 -> Digital Content Details -> Duration of Download Link = 96 ; Download Limit Count = 3

No other variations; the only other settings I’ve changed are the Autoresponder integration with MailChimp and Instructions to Buyer.

It’s an MP3 file, so the PDF stamper doesn’t play into it (I hope!)

On the General Settings: Digital Product Delivery -> Duration of Download Link = 96 (just changed a few hours ago from 24); Download Limit Count = <blank>

I’ve requested the update links, and I’ll install them shortly

That version is a little old. Let’s see what happens after you update.

I updated after the last part, but I’ve just had another customer talk me the same thing: the download links have expired. Here’s the message:

“The secure download manager ran into a problem that it couldn’t handle, and is unable to process your download request.

The problem was due to the following reason:

The download link (see browser address bar) has been used too many times. If you think this reason is in error, please contact the site administrator.”

It’s sounding like the link isn’t getting regenerated for each Customer. Don’t tell me I’m going to have to go in and re-enter a random code each time it sells…

Are you trying to use the URL shortening feature? There is a known issue with that:

    https://support.tipsandtricks-hq.com/forums/topic/link-shortener-feature-request/page/3

If you are using that feature, please try disabling it.
