free download lets you enter same email multiple times

I am using a free download squeeze shortcode.

It allows you to enter the same email address multiple times without restriction.

While the link will only work the number of times specified, I would like to let the user know that they have used this email address already to download.

Is there a way to do this ?

Squeeze forms always let you download the items multiple times (the user could have lost the download). Its a free download so it is always best to let them download it than to block it. The autoresponder signup will happen only once. Also the email address will only be added to the record once.
