Tips and Tricks HQ Support Portal › Forums › WP eMember › Partial Protection – Display certain number of words from each article
Hi, I know this is possible when coded for regular posts and pages in WordPress but just wanted to see whats possible with eMember.
We have articles that are Member only. We are now wanting to reveal a portion of copy from each, perhaps 100 words or so, to entice users to want to read the full article. I know this can be done with shortcodes in eMember (within each article) but now that we have almost 2000 articles we want to avoid manually having to add shortcodes for this.
Do you know if there is a way we can edit our template to make this work in eMember as presumably we won’t be able to use the normal functions like wp_trim_words
.
Any suggestions welcome! Many thanks,.
If these are blog post entries then you can use the “More Tag” protection feature. When eanbled, it will protect everything after the more tag. So the content before the more tag will serve as teaser content.
The other option is to use the partial protection shortcode so you can fully customize exactly what section you want to show and what section you want to protect:

If none of the above options works then we can maybe do a custom job for your specific requirement:
Many thanks for that, much appreciated.
I’ll have a chat with my developers and see what they think.
Just a quick questions re the more tag – these are actually articles set up as a custom post type.
The ‘more tag’ doesn’t seem to work but perhaps this is by design?
Thanks.
All sorted, many thanks.
