Are coupon discounts applied when using Paypal “Buy It Now” buttings, or just when using the Paypal cart?

I had a customer today buy on a special promo using a BIN, but there was no coupon box or discount applied at checkout. I had to refund the discount amount instead of it being applied at the point of sale.

    Thanks!

So you setup a product buy button and never tested it before you sent traffic to it? :)

The coupon can only be applied to a shopping cart. “Buy Now” or “Subscription” button takes the customer directly to PayPal, which means there is no option to apply a coupon.

“Buy Now” buttons are for fast, one click, one product checkout (there is nothing else you can do to it). If you want to use the coupons options for a product then you need to use the “Add to Cart” buttons.

Ahh, but you see, I have so much confidence in your plugin that I unthinkingly assumed it would take care of such pesky details as reprogramming Paypal to do something it normally could not! : )

Thanks for the reply. Admittedly, I placed the discount hurriedly without thinking it through or testing it. When I noticed my customer did not get the discount, it occurred to me that it was a shopping cart-only type of thing, hence my question.

    But thanks for confirming.

I normally only use BIN, since my product is a “one-shot” purchase. For future “sales” I’ll set up a separate purchase page with the”Add to Cart” button.
