In our state, digital downloads are NOT taxable, but physical items are. I don’t see a place to specify not to charge tax on downloads.
How do I set this?
Thanks,
Chris
Under the “Item Specific Tax,” for that product, is it zero? Remember, a blank is not the same thing as a zero.
We have a photo product specific tax you can apply but this might not be what you are asking for:
Edit the photo/image in question by clicking the edit link from the gallery settings. Then specify 0 in the “Item Specific Tax” field. You can use that field to configure a product specific tax for your products. But note that this will apply that value of tax only for that photo and to both physical and digital variations of that photo.
Currently we don’t have a global setting for digital vs physical variation taxes but we will put this on our TODO list.
Yes, The same item will be taxable or non-taxable depending on delivery method. If delivery is digital, no tax. If delivery is physical, then I have to charge sales tax.
I know we are not the only state that does this.
Thanks,
Chris
