If there a way to send a different e-mail depending if the item is a purchase (e.g. particular download) or subscription. Currently, I send a “thank you for purchase” message (configured in eStore email settings) but I’d rather send a “thank for for continued subscription” email (or no email at all) for a recurring subscription. If not, is there only the one generic email which has to cover both?
Thanks,
Gary
November 16, 2011 at 11:20 pm #38583adminKeymastereStore does not send any email for a recurring payment. For a subscription payment the customer will receive an email the first time he makes the payment (just like a buy now transaction). For subsequent charges he will be notified via PayPal automatically (there is no action to take from eStore so it won’t send any further email)

February 1, 2012 at 4:44 am #38585jerrymeyerMemberI am using WP emember, affiliate and estore….great software btw! I ran across a post in the forum that I can no longer find… after hours of searching on 2 different days it is just quicker for me to ask, even if it has already been answered.
The “thank you for your subscription” email is showing from WordPress. I have checked the settings in WordPress and in each of the WP plugins to make sure the from field has not been left blank. To no avail, this is the only email that continues to say from WordPress.
Can you please point me in the right direction?
Thanks so much!
February 1, 2012 at 12:22 pm #38586adminKeymasterWhich plugin is this email coming from (eStore, eMember or the affiliate plugin)? The content of the email will give you an idea as to where you configured that message (if you are not sure).
February 1, 2012 at 1:20 pm #38587jerrymeyerMemberIt is the “Thank you for your Subscription” [http://screencast.com/t/kftVv8UCC]
so I believe it is coming from the eStore
February 1, 2012 at 10:59 pm #38588PeterMemberHi,
The email you’re referring to is definitely coming from eStore.
Look in the eStore settings page and go to the “Email Settings” section.
The first part will contain the configuration for the email you’re referring to.
Carefully double-check the “From” field. You should have an entry which looks something like:
XXXX<youremailaddress>
I suspect that you might have “WordPress” for the “XXXX” value.

November 7, 2013 at 3:32 pm #38590Mdudley286MemberQuestion about this answer: eStore does not send any email for a recurring payment. For a subscription payment the customer will receive an email the first time he makes the payment (just like a buy now transaction). For subsequent charges he will be notified via PayPal automatically (there is no action to take from eStore so it won’t send any further email)
I am testing out this out before we go live with the subscription PayPay button. I received the first thank yesterday when I bought it, and today when it renewed, I got the same two emails. One from PayPal saying the payment has been processed and the WP thank you for your purchase email as well. I only need that one when they first purchase the subscription, not every time a payment is processed.
November 8, 2013 at 1:50 am #38591adminKeymasterIt doesn’t send emails for recurring payment (you don’t have to do anything for it). Lets see what is going wrong on your install. Please go to eStore settings and enable debug. The following post will explain how to do it:
https://support.tipsandtricks-hq.com/forums/topic/how-and-when-to-enable-debug-and-what-does-it-do
Wait for a recurring payment to be processed and then share the URL of your site so I can analyze the debug data.
November 8, 2013 at 1:13 pm #38592Mdudley286MemberI also noticed in the store that the it counted the item again as a sell. Is it because it is a trail, one price to a new price? But I will try the debugging as well. Can I run the debugging if I also have other items in my store that I know run fine? I am just having issues with the recurring payment email sending a second time as the store see it as another purchase.
November 8, 2013 at 9:36 pm #38593adminKeymasterOh okay so you are using Trial period which completely makes sense.
Trial amount is treated differently. The trial amount that you receive is not something that PayPal considers the first payment (hence the name “Trial”). So you will obviously get an email for the trial stuff but then you will get an email for the first payment of the subscription as usual. So when you use trial this is how it looks:
1) Trial amount charged
2) After x number of days the first subscription amount is charged
3) Then the recurring amount charge starts (no email will be sent for these)
December 15, 2013 at 1:15 pm #38594Mdudley286MemberOk, I am trying this again. I set up a recurring payment for .01 every day and for the past 3 days I have been charged and sent and email thanking me for my purchase and it adds to the purchase count in the estore this is with out a trial amount. Which URL do you need, the page that I currently have the subscription button on and I have looked at the debug file and not sure what you need from it. (I hope I have looked at the right one). Site URL [http://5dinners1hour.com]
December 15, 2013 at 11:46 pm #38595adminKeymasterAs far as I can, it is working correctly. Remember, you have got different customers subscribed to that product already. Every time one of those customers gets charged, you (the site admin) will get a notification.
I checked the trail of the following 4 customers (they all appear to be charged correctly):
sweety7119@xxxx
suttonfamily1022@xxxx
mike@xxxx
doug_foiles@xxxxDid you create a new product for your test? If you did, what is the product ID of that product? What is the buyer email address you used for your test so I can check the trail in the debug data? I hope you are not using the same email address as your seller one.
December 16, 2013 at 5:49 pm #38596Mdudley286MemberIt is product #25, and the buyer email is cainmom@xxxx
The seller address should be fivedinners1hour@xxxxx
The charging is working just fine, it is the fact that I receive an email every time the subscription renews and as I am getting that “thank you for your purchase” email it adds that subscription to the estore count as a new purchase as well.
