Tagged: characters
Hi, we are using your plugin in danish but are not able to use the special danish characters æ, ø and å in the usernames. Furthermore, errormessages containing the same characters are displayed wrong.
What to do?
Regards Jesper
To prevent code injection attacks, WordPress sanitizes usernames. For compatability, so does eMember. The result, is that only ASCII characters can be used for usernames. There are WordPress plugins that change this behavior, but their effects are unsupported by eMember.
That makes sense but the error prompt when typing the forbidden characters in the username does not mention this, hence it is a bit confusing. The error message only says “Letters, numbers, underscores or email is allowed” The problem is, that in Denmark æ, ø and å ARE letters and NOT special characters. So would it be possible in the danish error messages to write (Letters, except æ, ø and å)?
