Hello, I am sorry to bother you, I have decided to go with Estore shipping method instead of paypal because I have the ability to choose whatever I want. I had a customer make an order and she never clicked the dropdown arrow for shipping options in the shopping cart, she just clicked the Update button. Since she didn’t click the dropdown arrow, the “Shipping Charges” field was empty and so she clicked update and finished her order without being charged anything for shipping.
How can I fix that?
Thanks so much for your help:-)
February 14, 2012 at 11:04 pm #41956PeterMemberHi,
Hmmm…If all of your customers were from areas which warrant the same shipping charge you can specify a shipping cost per product in the “Shipping and Tax” section of the product config and then it would be added to the cost automatically.
However, in your case you are using shipping variations and this means that they have to click the update button.
I can see your point about people not clicking the button. To make eStore automatically apply the shipping cost when selecting a variation from the drop-down without needing to click the “Update” button will require a code change.
Let’s wait for Admin to reply and he can recommend what your best option is.
ps: At the very least, you can set yourself a base shipping cost which applies to all products and then add the variation for the more expensive shipping options.
This way at least you will recoup some of the shipping for the cases where people forget to click the update button.
February 15, 2012 at 12:06 am #41957adminKeymasterIf someone clicks the update button without selecting a value that means he wants to use the one that is already selected (in this case the first variable will be selected). Your first variation should always be the default choice one.
February 16, 2012 at 5:23 pm #41958momentum34MemberBut if you go to my website [www.Kratomincense.com] and do a checkout, the initial field of the shipping option is blank. Today I found out that a customer checked out, chose priority shipping but did not click the update button and just agreed to terms and conditions and checked out but because he didn’t click the update button, he wasn’t charged for shipping.
February 16, 2012 at 5:28 pm #41959momentum34MemberOkay, I am able to use a base shipping price, so that part is taken care of
But now, I am finding out the customer doesn’t even have to click on “Update”, they can choose a shipping option, not click update, agree to terms and conditions, and checkout. I figured that would be asked to click the update button again but they aren’t having to. For now, I am going to have to set it up for paypal but please help me solve this problem. Again, they still have to click the dropdown arrow but not actually click the update button and still checkout/
February 17, 2012 at 4:01 am #41960adminKeymasterCurrently when you change the selection it will show you an *warning* saying you need to click the “Update” button. I found that to be sufficient since customer will see that warning in red and apply the change. However, you want it so that when they change the selection, they have to hit update otherwise don’t let them checkout right?
