We are having an issue on the form users use to create a new account. When they type in the username they would like, the ‘Validating, please wait’ popup appears, but it never changes from that state or specifies if the username is available.
This was first reported a couple days ago. I checked and was able to duplicate the error. I then cleared my cache and that solved the problem, so I assumed it was a caching issue.
Now it’s been reported again today by a different user. Again I’m able to duplicate the error, but even when clearing my cache it’s still happening.
Plus the most recent user complaint also states that she wasn’t even allowed to create an account. Here’s what she wrote:
“I filled in the online form-it kept saying username validating, and it wouldn’t let me register-I followed the attached instructions-any idea whats gone wrong?”
Your help in solving this is greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
April 2, 2014 at 10:37 pm #62064wzpModeratorWhat is your site, so we can try getting this problem? Do you have anything that would block an ajax request to your server?
April 9, 2014 at 5:13 am #62065clearscopedesignParticipantSorry for the delay. You can see the issue here: [http://mindfulnessinschools.org/breathe/create-account/]
I do not know of anything that would be blocking an ajax request to the server.
Thank you…
April 9, 2014 at 2:30 pm #62066adminKeymasterWhen the plugin is sending an ajax request your server is giving the following error so that request is never completing:
No 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' header is present on the requested resource.
So find out what you did on your site to create that issue then fix it and emember will start working fine after that.
April 16, 2014 at 6:37 am #62067clearscopedesignParticipantThank you. I don’t know how to begin to figure out why that would be happening. Do you have any suggestions?
April 23, 2014 at 12:48 am #62068clearscopedesignParticipantWe have received another complaint of username not validating.
We don’t have any other problems with our website or with eMember.
Unfortunately we don’t know anything about ajax. Is there anything else you can do to help us figure out how to solve this, or any suggestions as to how to troubleshoot what’s causing the error?
Thank you!
April 23, 2014 at 4:04 am #62069adminKeymasterHave you shown that error to your hosting provider? This is a server/site setup related issue so your first contact should be the hosting provider to see why it gives that error when a plugin tries to do a an ajax query.
Basically, if ajax is not working on your site then the username validation won’t work because it requires ajax. Every site should have ajax working unless there is some particularly weird setup on this site.
