Hi, I am using coupons on my site but can’t work out the date entries.
I want to specify a start and end date for a single day.
If I enter today 24/6/2020 for the starting date (which is the date today in Australia and its 8am and what the site time zone is set to) but if buyers enter the code they get the message that ‘this coupon code only applies on 24/6’. Why is this please? Is the start date at a certain time?
What would I enter for the coupon apply to a single day – the same date start / end fields?
Thanks Andy
Please check to see what timezone your site is using:
Your server’s timezone will be different than your own timezone (the customer’s timezone will be different also). It’s normally best to put one day of buffer for the coupon expiry data so a prospective customer doesn’t miss out on the opportunity.
Thanks I missed the timezone setting somehow. Set that now but I presume there isn’t a way to have a coupon valid for a single day, is that correct – because the start date would commence at just after midnight and if the next day is set as the end date it would end at the following day at midnight?
Can the start/end dates be set the same though – would this give me a single day?
Andy
As suggested by @Admin, dealing with 3 possible timezones may not be worth the heartache. Besides, a clever user who misses a coupon by 1 hour can always use a VPN to skip back to a previous timezone. By setting a coupon to 48 hours, you don’t force spurned buyers into making ethical decisions; although my own mother would have no hesitation using the “VPN WABAC machine.”
