    Hello,

Twice recently I’ve had a problem where a customer entered a coupon code correctly, but the discount did not get applied. You can see that the code was passed through to PayPal because it shows up in text at the bottom of the PayPal confirmation email (the part that only admins, not the customer, see). And, in Manage Coupons it will show that it was redeemed a certain number of times. But when you pull up the detail on the customer purchase itself, it shows no coupon code. And, of course, the customer didn’t get the discount. Any idea what could be going wrong here?

The easiest way to figure this out would be to test out a transaction yourself with that coupon and see if it applies correctly or not. Give it a test and let me know what you see.

Tested it – on the first one, it said Max number had been reached. (1 other person had used it.) I’d left the max number section blank – I thought that set it to “infinity” since that is the symbol that appears. I guess you must put something in?

The other one I’d set to “1” max limit because it was just for one person. Since he already used it I can’t really test what happened. Perhaps he got the same limit message but didn’t notice. However, it should have still allowed one use if it was set to 1. Do others have problems with the max limitations box?

I have seen this max limit issue before. I am yet to determine exactly what condition makes that happen but the easiest workaround for you is to use a large number in that field rather than keeping it empty. For example use 9999 as your max number if you want to have no limit. Remember, you can change these numbers any time you want. So temporarily change the max limit of that coupon and test it then change it back to whatever you feel comfortable.
