I believe you did not tell us which file to modify to change the mandatory manual checkout fields – we only really need a name and email address.
If you are embedding the manual checkout form on a WordPress page (this option was added recently) then look in the “eStore_manual_gateway_collect_details_form” function of the “eStore_manual_gateway_functions.php” file.
If you are using the stand alone manual checkout page (not embedded inside a WordPress page) then look in the “show_shipping_details_form_new” function of the “view/eStore_shipping_details_view.php” file.
I am using the auto-switch to standalone manual checkout for zero cost orders. The number of people reporting failures is higher than I would expect from just finger problems, and I have screen-share-watched people go though this process and fail.
For some it is just that they cannot download the digital file, e.g. Outlook as an email handler seems to offer no options to do this. Is there a way of presenting that link as a download? As a minimum, it would help if there was a way of editing the emails that get sent so I could describe better what actions the member needs to take.
For others, (and I have watched this) the process does not redirect to our thank you page and sits on the order page. The email that comes to me gets generated, but the email does not go to the member (yes we checked their spam bucket), and if the member does not contact me, I have no way of knowing if they succeeded or not.
Any workarounds you can suggest would be appreciated. A re-think of the design of all of this would be appreciated even more.
You have done too many custom modifications with the manual checkout process (due to your project requirement) so I have no idea what is going wrong. I have sent you an email to get access so I can check your setup.
eStore is a great plug-in and I know it’ll help me build my business/livelihood, thanks! but I too struggle with zero cost products, which I have to provide in my industry. The squeeze form is too short (I need company, title fields on the form too). My immediate need is to provide free access to a page where the customer will stream a video. It seems the Pay Per View Logic is a really good way, but my video is a free view. Thus, running through the cart, we are stuck with the Manual Checkout and inflexible Order Confirmation form. This is a deal breaker for me. My crowd won’t fill all that in to watch a free video, plus it doesn’t integrate w/ my mailing list and the info is irrelevant for digital products. They also wouldn’t join a membership site for a one-off video. Thus, I manage these items outside of eStore ( where it’s possible to put in bogus info in my email collector form and access the content, which can then also be shared willy-nilly).
I think you have an opportunity for a paid extension to enable us to build our own manual check-out and squeeze forms. I would buy it immediately and it seems lots of people struggle with the hard coded Order Confirmation form. What do you think?
