I have the store set up on my site (http://www.robertschwartzman.com/shop) to sell an album and the download is a ZIP of MP3 files. I have had an unusually large amount of people tell me that the downloads are corrupt. They seem to have no problems with downloading, just unzipping. I am handling the downloads through an encrypted link, but even when I link them directly to the ZIP file, they still have the issue. I tried uploading the ZIP onto YouSendIt and it then works, which leads me to believe it’s something on my end. I can’t replicate the problem myself, which is really hindering me in figuring this out…
The file is 58MB in size.
Any thoughts? Thanks.
So, what I think you are saying is; even if you send them a direct link to the zip file, it still ends up being corrupt? Have you tried using FTP in the BINARY transfer mode?
I did try binary in a totally different FTP program (was using Filezilla and switched to Smart FTP) and it now seems to work fine. Haven’t had another complaint. From Google searching, it seems Filezilla quite often corrupts things.
I also recommend FireFTP for Firefox.
