I have a coupon for item name contains “x”. When I add one or more products to the cart, they all get the discount. If I add an item the the cart, apply the coupon, then decided to add another item to the cart that matches the criteria, it doesn’t get the discount. If I try to apply the coupon, it says the discount can only be applied once. Shouldn’t all items get the discount, regardless of when they are added? Seems like a problem.
Also, is it possible to have an option for coupons I created to be automatic coupons?
January 17, 2013 at 11:19 pm #53116adminKeymasterBy default you can only apply a coupon once. This is to prevent sneaky customers from stacking coupons. You enable the ability to stack coupons at your own risk:
The coupon discount is only applied to the items when you apply it. If you change quantity or remove an item from the cart after you apply a coupon, it will reset the coupon. No, we don’t have advanced automatic coupon options.

Even though this item meets the criteria, they only get the discount on the first item, when, if they had added both items and then applied the coupon, they would get the discount on both items?
Is that what you are saying?
If so, they only way they can get the proper discoun (the above example is not coupon stacking), is to remove everything from the cart and start over. Doens’t seem quite right does it?
January 18, 2013 at 2:37 am #53118adminKeymasterI see what you mean. I misinterpreted your first post. I made a little modification to the plugin that should solve that issue. When you add a new item to the cart it will re-apply the coupon to that new item too (if the coupon is a conditional coupon then the whole cart needs to meet the requirement as usual).

Thanks.
March 6, 2016 at 9:40 am #53120jonconMemberI’m having the same issue as the op.
I created a discount coupon EXETER20 which gives 20% discount for product type ‘4’ which is a digital download.
The coupon applies correctly to items already in the cart. However if the customer then decides to add another digital download to the cart then the discount isn’t applied until the cart is updated.
I would like this to be automatic. Did this get resolved?
March 7, 2016 at 1:11 am #53121adminKeymasterTurn off the ajax cart option (you enabled this option from the advanced settings tab of the plugin). The coupon application can’t be updated like the way you are saying when you are using the ajax option.

I’m loving this plugin by the way.
