We have a multi-payment product that is $175 per month for 6 months. The last sale that went through awarded a commission of $525 to the affiliate. The settings in the plugin dashboard is set for 20%, so I have no idea what might be happening. Any advice re where to look for a solution would be greatly appreciated. Running WordPress 4.8, a Divi child theme, and all plugins are updated. Thank you.
Please describe in detail… what eCommerce platform you are using; how you have the recurring payments setup; which payment gateway (processor) is being used; and how you have the commission(s) configured.
It’s straight to Paypal via your other plugin, WPEstore. Commission is figured at 20%, as mentioned, in the WP Affiliate settings.
Something is messed up somewhere. I have never seen this before. Please enable debug option in eStore and the affiliate plugins. Reset the log files so there is a clean capture. Then reproduce the issue and share a link to the page where you have the payment button so I can inspect the button and check the log file.
Will do. It is definitely odd…
So I figured out what happened. Previously we had a $ amount set, but we changed it to a percentage. But when we did that, the old commission rate ‘stuck’ for the existing affiliates. Is that normal?
The commission level for the old affiliates won’t change automatically. When they signed up, they agreed to whatever the deal was. It is not a good practice to change that suddenly. That would be a little bit like agreeing to pay a subscription payment for $5 per month but then one day you woke up and found that the payment changed and the vendor started to charge you more.
You shouldn’t suddenly switch from one type of commission to the other. If you do change it then you should notify your existing affiliates so they know what is going on. Then edit their profiles and apply the new commission level.
