Say i have the commission set at $5.00 for an unlimited or limited time… but then at some time I lower the rate to $1.00. Is this possible to do and will the affiliates that already earn $5.00 now be earning $1.00 instead?

    Thanks!

The commission rate you enter in the settings is used to set the commission of an affiliate when he/she signs up. If you change it later then only new affiliates will get that new rate. The old affiliates will still have the rate that was promised to them when they signed up.

It is a bad practice to suddenly change the rate of an existing affiliate. This is why the plugin behaves this way (it only applies the new commission to the new affiliates).

However, if you do want to change the commission rate of your earlier affiliate(s) then you can simply edit the affiliate’s profile and change his/her commission rate anytime. The commission rate set in the affiliate’s profile will be used to calculate the commission.

I’m sorry if I am asking this in the wrong place but I’m new to all of this. In the WP Affiliate Setting where it says, “Commission Level” if I want to pay say 15% do I simply put “15” in that field? I mean, it says do not use a % or $ sign so if I just put 15 is it going to calculate 15% or $15. I’m sorry but that is confusing and needs a little clarification.

You always enter the numeric value in the “Commission Level” field. There is a settings field called “Use Fixed Commission Amount” that controls if your commissions are calculated using % or a fixed $ amount.

So if the “Use Fixed Commission Amount” option is unchecked then all your commissions will be % based.

Ok, I see that now. Thank you very much! This is a great program by the way!
