Tagged: change registration form
We have a very simple scenario for “membership”. We have 2 membership levels – Free and Paid. For the free membership all we want to do is collect a persons First Name, Last Name, and email adress to add to the membership database so that they can receive our email announcements. We don’t want a User Name and Password for this level.
Our second membership is paid for which we will want the username and password as per the current function for protected content.
We have purchased the form builder add-on, thru which I tried to create a simple form that would meet the Free Member requirements but the form builder will not allow deletion of the User Name and Password.
Please advise advise. PS I am just a volunteer building this website and don’t do coding. And I learn as I go.

There is no technical way to have a membership level, that does not identify (user name) and authenticate (password) a person. Think about it… the legal implications of such a system.
You can however, have unprotected content that does not require a person to identify themselves to the system.
You can’t have a membership account without a username/email and password combo. Thats like saying, you want to create an email account but you won’t use a password for the account.
You can create 2 separate custom forms with different fields and then put the registration forms on separate pages using the following shortcode:
The username, password and email address fields are mandatory on any registration form.
Thanks, I understand that now. I have used a work around where I set the registration to the Free levels, as sugeested above, and will manually upgrade the appropriate members to Paid status. We don’t currently have enough demand for a Pay site, as we are a small voluteer organization.
