We have configured our eStore to allow PayPal to calculate shipping based on the destination address, but we use a flat rate for shipping when the customer selects a Manual Payment option.
The Shopping Cart widget continues to show the Manual Shipping costs, even when the customer has selected PayPal. This causes confusion, because they get a *different* shipping cost once PayPal has done its calculations.
I edited the widget to show some text, explaining this, but it would be nice to just not show any shipping costs at all, when the customer selects “PayPal” on the payment options. Also, having the ability to configure some explanatory text in the widget, would be nice… even with the shipping costs changing based on the payment gateway selected, some customers might not understand why, so a brief explanation would be very helpful.
You can easily customize a widget to show your message then show the shopping cart above or below your message. See this post to learn how to add buttons or shopping cart manually to the sidebar:
How to display buttons or shopping cart in the sidebar widget
When you use the above mentioned approach you will be able to place any text message that you want in the same widget.
