Hi. Although I bought the plugin to sell e-books in the future, at the moment I’m trying to use it to take bookings for the textile courses I teach. I need to be able to display the full cost of the course but for my students to be able to pay either a deposit, the balance of the cost of the course or the full price. I’ve been trying to use variations for this but can’t get a sensible configuration. Is there a better way to do it. So far all I’ve come up with is to have the description, image etc in a WordPress table and then to have three ‘products’, one for each payment option displayed using Fancy 9 so only the product name, cost and ‘make the booking’ button show but this is a bit clumsy – any ideas?

- Alternatively, use recurring payments (subscriptions), which divide the price into equal payments.

Students can do one of three things. They can:
> book a course and pay a deposit
> later, come back to the site and pay the balance on a course they’ve already booked OR
> book a course and pay for the whole thing at the time of booking.
I feel as though I’m missing something blindingly obvious …

If they elect to pay the deposit, are you expecting the site to keep track of the fact they still owe the remaining amount? Because eStore is not capable of tracking partial payments.
If you are determined to use variations, you need one “Payment Election” physical variation, for each (class) product.
Example, for the Freehand Screen Printing (class) product:
The base price is 0, because the variation will add onto the base price.
Payment Election|Deposit Only:50|Pay Balance:240|Payment In Full:290
You are responsible for keeping track of the payments, by hand.
