I am stuck with a weird problem!! I have a category, which is protected. I create a post by hand, assign it to that category, try to view the post, obviously I can’t, because it’s protected. PERFECT!
Now I make a post automatically (using the popular FeedWordPress plugin), also assigned to the same category, go see the post, and it’s perfectly visible, no protection at all!! I edit the post, at the bottom says it’s protected, category is protected, everything is protected… yet it is visible to anyone.
The only difference between the two posts (besides that one is manual and the other is automatic) is the author, but I have assigned myself (admin) as the author of the automatic posts with no difference, it is still visible.
Could you please help me understand why this happens (I understand it’s hard without seeing but I do not have a link to the site I am working locally).
We don’t support automated content creation with our membership plugin but given the fact that the post was created with all the options correctly set as a proper WordPress post I don’t see why the protection won’t work. I would recommend you check this check list first to see if you made any common mistake
Thanks, I imagined that. Thanks for the link. If, as a test, I change the automated content plugin to WPRobot, and still get automated content, it gets protected. Not the case with FeedWordPress, which evidently puts something weird in the posts, as strange as it may sound. This one is going to stay a mystery!
Got it sorted, it was a FeedWordPress plugin setting. If will ever be anyone using FeedWordPress + eMember and stuck with the same problem, just disable the default “Protect syndicated posts from formatting filters” under Posts&Links settings.
