Hi! I am using WP Affiliate Version 6.2.4 with Paid Membership Pro

Some of my members in PMPro have usernames with space in the name (ex: Lynn Astrid)

Then I go to WP Affiliate > Manage Affiliates > Import WP User. WP Affiliate has created these affiliates with space in their names just fine.

    Here is the issue.

I want to implement Tier 2 Affiliates.

So I go to user <Lynn Astrid> and try to edit so I can put <Karen> as her Referrer ID. (Karen would be tier 1 and Lynn Astrid would be tier 2). But, I get an error message: Error! Permitted characters for Affiliate ID field are letters, numbers and underscore

Lynn Astrid is created but cannot be further edited.

I have also done the reverse, just to report all test cases.

I went to user <Karen> and try to edit to put <Lynn Astrid> as Referrer ID. But I get the same error message.

    Please advise. Thanks!

Yes, that will be an issue. You can’t have the “Space” character in the affiliate ID. That is actually not a valid character for the URL field. The affiliate ID is used in the URL field so it needs to be constructed using valid characters that can go in a URL.

So unfortunately, those user accounts with space characters can’t have an affiliate account with the same username value automatically. You can maybe request them to create a separate affiliate user account by going to the affiliate portal. There is no other way around it.

Noted. I will create them manually.

FYI for others… I found that PMPro has a way to force all spaces in username to be underscore or any other character. So, I can prevent this from happening in the future. https://www.paidmembershipspro.com/customizing-usernames-for-your-membership-site/

    Thank you.
