I see where you can “simulate” a BUY NOW button action with a text link. (BTW – This is not documented very well. It took me a while to finally figure out that I had to install the additional shortcodes plugin.) Can the same thing be done for a subscription?
Related to this (but I could not find any info on this either)…
What happens if you put in both a “regular” price and a “subscription” price for the same product? If I put a “Buy Now” button, does the plugin assume it is a one-time payment or does it turn it into a subscription?
I was nearly done adding this subscription text link feature so wanted to reply after I was done. If you get a new build of the extra shortcodes plugin from here you will be able to use the subscription text link feature:

The following text link is an example of how you can use it. It lets the user purchase subscription Product “1” via a “Subscription” type button:
http://www.your-domain.com/?wp_eStore_subscribe=1Replace “1” with the actual ID of the eStore subscription product and “your-domain.com” with your own domain name where you have the plugin installed.

I tried using this on a text link:

There is a product 51 and that is my domain name but it just redirects to my home page

You need to install the Extra eStore Shortcodes addon.
