I’m just starting to explore putting up a ‘pay-to-play’ seminar on our store. If we can sell streaming media, where would the seminar be hosted? How long would the customer have to view the seminar? And would it just be a link from the storefront, or would it be more complicated than that?
Thanks in advance for your help.

What this script does is that when someone clicks on the encrypted link that they receive after making a purchase, it takes them to this special script (eg. http://www.you-domain-name.com/protected.php). This script shows the actual content page which has the streaming videos embedded on it. This script only shows the content if the customer follows the encrypted link. If a visitor goes directly to this URL it will redirect them to a different URL (eg. an access denied type page). This way the users can’t view the videos after the encrypted links expire and they also never know the actual URL of the page that has the videos embedded on it.
The other option is to use the WordPress Membership Plugin where you can embed your videos on the posts or pages then protect it so only the members can view it. You can see an example on the WP eMember demo site. Use the following login information:
Username: free123
Password: testpass

April 18, 2010 at 4:04 pm #16804jerel maniMemberamin007, i would love this script that you are talking about.
I’m a film maker and have just set up your estore plugin on my site.
I have tried creating a streaming video page on wordpress then linking to that from the digital downloads item but the page just hangs and does nothing.
Then i tried setting up a bear bones html page with streaming on it. But when a user clicks on the digital download link it does just that , down loads the html file and then its available to whoever has this page.
So how do a do a Pay-per-view setup?
This will be a godsend because i looked at doing PPV with amazon and some private comapnies and it is very expensive and i recieve very little return (amazon take %50 and then tax…).
I have looked on you sites for a tutorial and have not had much joy.
thanks.

Give me a few days and I will have something ready for you.
April 19, 2010 at 11:42 am #16806jerel maniMemberThank you. I really want to get this (your estore software) out there for other independent film makers.
As you know , like with niche programing there ain’t alot of ways to recoupe your costs.
April 20, 2010 at 9:24 am #16807amin007ParticipantI have added a basic Pay Per View option into eStore now.
So when a customer clicks on an encrypted link they will be able to view a page which has streamable video embedded on it but the URL of the actual page containing the video will be masked so the visitors won’t know the actual URL of the page.
April 21, 2010 at 11:08 pm #16808jerel maniMembergreat. Thank you very much.
How do i install it?
And can this basic page still be a wordpress generated page or does it need to be a static html page?
April 21, 2010 at 11:32 pm #16809IvyMemberHi Jerel, I will send you an eStore update that has this feature already integrated. This can be a WordPress generated page.
Cheers,
Ivy

April 22, 2010 at 9:24 am #16811jerel maniMemberI’ve got it thanks you Ivy.
I’ve set it all up and it appears to be working.
Now of course i have a question.
In the settings panel under Pay per view settings
There is the section “Redirection Page for Unauthorized Access”
“Visitors will be redirected to this page when trying to access the Pay Per View URL without clicking on a valid link.”
I have created a page and would like to test it. How can i replicate this “Unauthorized Access”?
To see how it works?
April 22, 2010 at 10:44 am #16812IvyMemberAll you need to do is copy the encrypted link and paste it in the browser. It should redirect you to the link you specified.
Cheers,
Ivy
April 22, 2010 at 2:48 pm #16813jerel maniMemberI’ve copied and pasted an expired link and it produces a web page that simply states “link expired”.
If i copy a fresh generated url it just goes to the normal page that it should reveal with the video player.
I’m going to email ruhul with a security issue that i have found with the plugin. Better not to discuss it on this open forum i think.
May 3, 2010 at 2:27 pm #16814peeldMemberI purchased this plugin a couple months ago and would LOVE the update you mention that will allow me to do the streaming vod on my site. I set it up with a link but it tries to download the page instead of viewing it. How do I get the update?
Thanks!
Daisy
