If an automatic discount coupon is applied (ie. if $200+ give 20%off), can the customer also apply a manual coupon code on top of that (ie. 10% off)? This would bring the total discount to 30%…
If this is the case, how can I prevent this to happen?
Thanks
October 15, 2012 at 4:04 pm #50386DanMemberAlso, if I have 2 automated discount coupons can both be triggered at the same time (or it’s either one or the other)?
Thanks again.
October 16, 2012 at 3:53 am #50387adminKeymasterIf they qualify for an auto discount then they will receive that discount. They can’t apply another manual coupon on top of that. We have a check to make sure only one coupon discount can be applied to the cart so users can’t scam the system by stacking coupons.
Regarding your other question… it ‘s one or the other.
October 16, 2012 at 9:31 am #50388DanMemberThanks for that answer. it’s clear.
Regarding the second answer “it ‘s one or the other”, which criteria is followed?
For example: if I have these two automated rules:
value over $200 gets 10% off
value over $500 gets 20% off
If the user buys $500 worth of goods does he get 20% for sure (ignoring the first 10% rule)?
Thanks
October 16, 2012 at 9:38 am #50389DanMemberSeparate question (still using the example above):
And if they then add a manual 30% OFF will the system ignore the previous rules and give the highest discount amount (in this case 30%)?
Thanks again. I’m just trying to make sense of it all.
October 17, 2012 at 3:29 am #50390adminKeymasterYou can only configure ONE *value over certain amount* auto discount (this is to avoid any issue like the one you explained above).
The auto discount takes precedence. When an auto discount condition is met it will remove every other discount and apply the auto discount only.

December 29, 2014 at 5:04 pm #50392blogmeistressMemberHi admin, having read your answer above (We have a check to make sure only one coupon discount can be applied to the cart so users can’t scam the system by stacking coupons.):
I have set up 4 different coupon codes for each of 4 different digital products. The discount gets properly applied if a customer purchases each product separately, however if they want to buy all 4 products in one go and apply the appropriate code for each product, WPeStore seems to not allow for that and resets the non discounted price for each product as it gets added to the cart – is this also considered “stacking coupons”? Is there another way of enabling customers to purchase multiple products that are discounted, regardless if they want to buy 2 or 3 or 4 at the same checkout?
December 30, 2014 at 12:29 am #50393adminKeymasterUse categories for this type of situation. You can put all those 4 products in a specific category (you can create as many categories as you want to). Then create ONE conditional coupon for that category. This will then work for both situations.
