Is it essential for a product configured as Buy It Now to have a unique return URL set in the product details or will it automartically use the Thank you page URL settings if they are set in the general settings of WPstore
September 30, 2010 at 3:25 am #24917amin007ParticipantNo it’s not essential. It will use the return URL set in the general settings as the return URL if you don’t specify it in the product specific section.
June 28, 2012 at 6:29 pm #24918astrologiadelafuenteParticipantI have a problem in that a Product Specific Return url is not working, on test purchase I am redirected to the Return url defined in General Settings.
In the product 19 I defined the Return url in the second to last dropdown called Buy Now or Subscription Type Button specific settings >return url
Please confirm that that is in fact the correct location
Another problem is that I am unable to get after two test purchases to any link encrypted or not to the Downloadable Digital Product url (If checked the digital content will be offered as an anonymous download (the customer won’t know where it is coming from).
Where are the customers supposed to get the encrypted url?
In the email I have defined and they receive after purchase under Product Specific Instructions for Buyer?
I have tried with theese in the email instructions and did not work
{product_details}
{product_specific_instructions}
Or where else?
June 28, 2012 at 10:26 pm #24919astrologiadelafuenteParticipantI realised that generating the encrypted Product url had to be done on the admin functions, and then copied thru onto the Product Specific Instructions for Buyer.
(I wasn,t told anywhere, clever me)
can you answer theese questions?
1 – encrypted links are by product only, not by product per customer, Is that correct?
2 – The number of downloads defined within general settings>Digital Product Delivery Settings>Download Limit Count…are global for the Product Link, not per customer
a. Can the number of downloads be defined on a per purchase basis?
b. Is the duration of the Download Link defined globally or on a per purchase basis?
June 29, 2012 at 1:37 am #24920PeterMemberHi,
The “Return URL” field in the “Buy Now Or Subscription Type Button Specific Settings” will only work for Buy Now or Subscription buttons. If you are using an Add To Cart button the global return URL will be used.
Regarding your question about how to deliver the encrypted link to customers there are a couple of ways:
One is through the email sent to the buyer after they’ve made their purchase.
Make sure that you have enabled the “Use Automatic Post Payment Processing” in the “Post Payment Processing” section of the Settings page.

Another way is to present the download link is via a “Thank You” page.

Regarding your questions in your last post:
“I realised that generating the encrypted Product url had to be done on the admin functions, and then copied thru onto the Product Specific Instructions for Buyer.”
A: No that’s not correct.
You usually use the Admin functions to generate an encrypted link manually so you can email it to a customer whenever you like.
The usual way of sending the encrypted link is via the automated email sent by eStore to the customer after they’ve made a purchase or via the thank you page. (see my previous answers above)
Q: 1 – encrypted links are by product only, not by product per customer, Is that correct?
A: A unique encrypted link is generated per purchase per digital product.
Q: 2 – The number of downloads defined within general settings>Digital Product Delivery Settings>Download Limit Count…are global for the Product Link, not per customer
A: The Download Limit Count is for each generated encrypted link. This effectively means that when a customer receives an encrypted link and clicks on it, the system will check the settings and when it sees that download limit is set to “X” it will only allow that link to be used “X” times.
Q: a. Can the number of downloads be defined on a per purchase basis?
A: No.
Q: b. Is the duration of the Download Link defined globally or on a per purchase basis?
A: See my answer for the Download Limit Count – same concept.
