I want to switch over to WP eStore for my downloads store. I will eventually have hundreds of download products that I will be adding to WP eStore. What would be the best way to set the store up with the products? Should each of the products details be listed on their own separate pages, or should they be listed on individual posts? Anyone have any experience with this or any tips? Thanks.

    Hi!

I have very little real life experience with ecommerce as I am also getting started but have experience in non monetary conversions. I have done a lot of research with ecommerce and intend to go about it this way:

Because we can embed a product anywhere on a site, then I will do both of what you mentioned. There will be times when a customer would like to browse and others when a customer wants to be lead directly to a standalone product. There are times when indecision can be your worst enemy. So for example. If there is a promotion or product that is linked to a Pay Per Click campaign, then the customer will be lead right to a standalone page with very clear information on what it is and how to purchase (ie. a short video to explain the product, the product itself and all info is above the fold.) This would differ from content found by natural search that links to a product. Depending on the content, there could be a few products that are relevant so there would be a page with a few products. Last of, course is a store to browse all products.

I think the best thing to do is experiment. That is the only way to truly know your customers and your products. You can analyze their every move with tools. Check these out to start:

    Google Analytics – google.com/analytics

    Crazyegg – crazyegg.com

    clickmeter – clickmeter.com
