I have messed up my password reset email or page. I need the correct text and shortcodes to fix.

clicking the “password reset” link sends to password reset page. The resulting email is:
Please use the information below to log in and reset your password. If you do not know your password, please click the “password reset” item in the top menu.

    [sitename.org/member-login]

You can update your password from the edit profile area of the site (after you log into the site).

This is a continuous loop, the member can never see the area to reset password.

how can I retrieve the original email contents of the email.

The following page should be helpful for you. It has all the shortcodes that you need to keep on the required pages of the WP eMember plugin:

How to Re-Create the Mandatory eMember Pages

Once you plug in the values and update the settings with the *updated* URL, it will connect and start to work fine.

Thank you, but the problem is that the email which results from the password reset page just sends the user back to the password reset page. I need the text or shortcodes for the email that is sent. Thank you.

Look in the file emember_menu_email_settings.php file for the $eMember_forgot_pass_email_body string definition. But first, try setting the email body to an empty template and see if it auto-fills.

Go to the “Email Settings” menu and empty whatever value you put in the “Forgot Password” email body field. Make that text-area field empty then hit the save settings button. That will re-generate the original/default email content for that field. Then you can modify it some (keeping the email merge tags in place) and save again.
