Hello,
I have read a few old topics on this, but it wouldnt work how i would like with coupons etc.
Basically i have created a free membership level and a premium membership level, i would like those who are premium members to have a 20% discount on every product on my site, or 20% off there total checkout price, however i want this to be a permanent discount so they get 20% off every time they purchase products from my site, so long as they stay a premium member.
I have looked at creating a coupon code for premium members with unlimited usage, but they could easily share these codes with friends or online etc so i wouldnt be able to do that.
Is there any way you or myself could add an automatic discount feature for a specific member level/ID? that way i wouldnt have to send out coupon codes for each premium member and would be a lot more secure, which would be my main concern about using coupon codes.
Thanks for any help on this, carl
January 31, 2012 at 8:33 am #41471PeterMemberHi Carl, One way you can solve this is to protect your product pages so that only your “premium” members can actually buy “discounted” products.
On the protected pages you might create products which are reduced by 20%.

The following is another way to give members auto discount:

Thanks for the quick response.
I could do it that way, it would just mean creating 2 of each product, one at the discount price for the premium members page and one at the normal price for basic members page.
But one problem i would have is that i have 3 or 4 pages in my main menu that each sell different types of products, so i would have to duplicate each page for the premium members and also add them to the main menu, which would make my menu a little too full, unless i used a dropdown menu which i also wanted to avoid to keep my site looking clean and simple.
Is there a way i can hide certain pages in my main menu for specific member levels? so for example if i logged in as a premium member then i would only see the premium member pages in the main menu, whilst the basic level pages would be completely hidden (something compatible with eMember/eStore).
If the above is possible then i would do it that way, but overall i think if you could implement an automatic discount feature for a specific member level, it would make things much more easier and save a lot of time, maybe something to put in as a future update perhaps?
February 1, 2012 at 5:25 am #41473adminKeymasterIn your theme you can add condition around the links to make it only appear for certain members or users from a particular membership level. eMember has some functions that can facilitate this. Check this page with example codes:

How to Protect a Section of a Post or Page (Partial Protection)
You can protect one payment button for one membership level and the other one for a different level (all on the same page).
February 2, 2012 at 5:08 am #41475webfireworxMemberI think adding condition will work best for me, but il see what i can do with the section protect, one of these will work out just fine for me either way.
Many thanks for all the help and advice, i appreciate it.
Carl
