Automatic discount on first order only?

Is there any way to automatically apply a discount to the first order from new customer?

The payment gateway will be PayPal.

I’m guessing the answer will be no but thought I’d ask as I have a client who has made the request

The problem lies in determining if a visitor is truely a first customer or not. How do you plan to determine if a visitor is a first customer?

My thought exactly. I’ve been trying to figure out a way to get this to work for my client but without any luck – there’s always some way to get around it easily. Ok, thanks anyway!
