Tips and Tricks HQ Support Portal › Forums › WP eMember › Auto upgrade – if already have that level
Hi – I intend using the Auto Upgrade to provide all paid products with access to the free member content (ie to save them having to sign up twice). I will be using multiple independent memberships (training courses). If I set each level to upgrade to free, then when someone buys a second paid product, they will be auto upgraded again – will this cause problems or will emember recognise that they already have the free membership level and ignore.
Also, if I set the Auto Upgrade time to 0 days, will the upgrade take place immediately?
thanks
Please explain your setup scenario a little more. I am not sure what you mean by the following:
set each level to upgrade to free
Why would you upgrade all levels to free automatically?
Sorry for not being clear.
I have some pages which are available to any member – people just have to register to gain access.
But if a new user buys a premium product, they will get access to the premium pages but not the free pages (because they didn’t sign up for free first).
I know that I could add every membership level to the free pages but I have a lot of membership levels so this would be time-consuming. It would be easiest if there was an “All levels” option.
My thought was to make it so that for any premium product, the free level would automatically be added through auto upgrade. So my questions are:
* when someone buys a second paid product, they will be auto upgraded again – will this cause problems or will emember recognise that they already have the free membership level and ignore.
* also, if I set the Auto Upgrade time to 0 days, will the upgrade take place immediately?
Hope that is clearer.
If you have a lot of posts then you can use the category protection to protect all posts from a particular category.
The auto upgrade feature wasn’t designed for the way you are trying to use it. So it is likely you will see problems if you try to use it that way.
if you set it to 0 days then it will execute that night (once every night the plugin does all the auto upgrading in the background according to the settings).
