I am wanting to enable Auto Upgrade for our memberships, however I am concerned how this will effect subscription (auto renew) memberships. If a member has a 1 year subscription type membership and it is upgraded from basic to.. lets say silver after 30 days. When the expiration date arrives (1yr later) will their account renew to basic again instead of staying at silver? How does Auto Upgrade work with Paypal and automatic renewals?
Q: “If a member has a 1 year subscription type membership and it is upgraded from basic to.. lets say silver after 30 days. When the expiration date arrives (1yr later) will their account renew to basic again instead of staying at silver?”
A: The membership for that customer will remain at “silver”. As far as the expiry goes, it will remain active or it will expire at the specified time according to the configuration in the silver level. Remember that the expiry date is specified in each membership level’s configuration.
Q: “How does Auto Upgrade work with Paypal and automatic renewals? “
A: PayPal and the eMember auto-upgrade feature are not connected in any way.
The subscription payment plan is usually defined at the beginning (in eStore product’s config) when the customer purchases a membership subscription by paying via PayPal.
Then as time goes on, if they are auto-upgraded in eMember to another level, the regular payment conditions in PayPal will continue for the configured time, regardless of how many levels they have “auto-upgraded” to.
