    Hello,

I had a working installation of PDF stamper that suddenly stopped working. Noticed this when a customer wrote saying they never received the pdf; checked the logs and it turned out “an error occured while trying to stamp the file.” Tried stamping manually but received the same error; no further info or debugging information given.

I also tried all the steps in the F.A.Q. regarding this error message, to no avail. Clearing out the old stamped files didn’t help either.

Please help! I don’t know what could have caused the plugin to be working one day and not working the next, as I didn’t install any updates or make any changes to the code.

Here is what I see in the eStore post payment debug log:

[03/11/2011 1:38 AM] – SUCCESS :Generating download link for single file.

[03/11/2011 1:38 AM] – SUCCESS :Stamping the PDF file if WP PDF stamper plugin is installed.

[03/11/2011 1:38 AM] – SUCCESS :Source file type check… is file type PDF return value: 1

    [03/11/2011 1:38 AM] – SUCCESS :Source File URL is: http://www.counter-currents.com/%5Bpath removed]/TowardTheWhiteRepublic.pdf

[03/11/2011 1:38 AM] – FAILURE :An error occured while trying to stamp the file! Error details:

[03/11/2011 1:38 AM] – SUCCESS :Performing item specific autoresponder signup if specified.

[03/11/2011 1:38 AM] – SUCCESS :Performing global autoresponder signup if specified.

[03/11/2011 1:38 AM] – SUCCESS :Checking if the Author ID field has been used in any of the purchased product for revenue sharing purpose.

What could cause the “error details” to be blank? Any suggestions for further steps I can take to diagnose the issue? I’ve been extremely satisfied with the product up until now and I can’t imagine the issue is major given that it just stopped working out of the blue. Almost as if an update or change were made on the shared host I use, but my web hosting company insists nothing is different.

Thanks in advance for your help with this!

Minimum requirement checker states IonCube and CURL Library both present, with PHP version 5.2.17.

Path to the pdf file has not changed from when the stamper was working to now.

    Thanks again!

Is this a new product. Have you modified the “Download URL”?

Please go to the Manual Stamp menu of the PDF stamper and try a manual stamping on this file. Does it stamp successfully? What version of the PDF stamper you have?

Have you modified the value of the “Destination Directory of Stamped Files” field from the PDF Stamper settings menu? If you have try hitting the “Reset to Default” button in the settings page then do a manual stamp and see if there is a difference.

This is a product I’ve had for a while and have successfully stamped in the past. The download URL has not changed and I just checked to verify it is correct.

Manual stamp fails with the same error message, “An error occurred while trying to stamp this file!” Am using PDF stamper version 2.1

I have not changed the default directory for stamped files. I also tried moving the pdf from the current download directory to the “source-files” directory in the plugin and doing the manual stamp there without success.
