Hello support!
We sell downloadable video tutorials that are 3-4 gigabites in size and the regular S3 service sometimes is so slow that customers complain that they cannot download.
Amazon has the Cloudfront service that would solve the slow downloads problem.
Does the latest version of estore support using cloudfront for serving secure download links?
If not, would you consider adding this as a standard feature, provided I foot the programming bill?
Thank you!
Vitaly
We support the use of Amazon S3 for downloading:
It is more than capable of supporting the size of files you are intending.
“Cloudfront” is an entirely different service, offered by Amazon. It includes not only Amazon S3, but the ability to host an entire website on their server.
When you say that S3 is slow, are you following the S3 integration instructions? If not, then you are passing the data through your server; effectively doubling your bandwidth usage. Do you have any benchmarks?
