Symptoms:
Click on subscription button on products page. Takes me to Paypal where paymetn goes through fine. I subsequently get e-mails from Paypal saying that the transaction was successful. It takes me to the Thank You page where the data from the transaction is all displayed correctly, but I get no email asking me to complete the registration and no new customer is added to the database and no new member is added to eMember (not sure if this step is supposed to happen however)
I went through the useful troubleshooting posts:
– how-to-test-the-wordpress-estore-to-make-sure-everything-is-working-properly
– what-to-do-if-the-debug-file-is-empty
Here are the results from “Debug File Empty Troubleshooting Checklist”:
Step 1
– Enable Debug” checkbox is checked
Step 2
– “Use Automatic Post Payment Processing” checkbox is checked
Step 3
– Viewing “ipn_handle_debug.log” online shows me lines when viewing the paypal.php file with a browser, (SUCCESS :This debug line was generated because you entered the URL of the ipn handling script in the browser.) but downloading the ipn log from the settings page gives me a blank page.
Step 4
– Paypal Sandbox account test is a success. (IPN successfully sent.)
– “ipn_handle_debug.log” online shows me all SUCCESS except for the two expected ones: Request received for product ID: AK-1234. Could not find this Product ID and FAILURE :IPN product validation failed.
– Then I get an email with subject: WP eStore – Payment Verification Failed!
Other things I checked:
– Sending email manually works from the admin settings.
February 4, 2011 at 6:46 pm #28725kimpomaresMemberForgot to add results for Step 5:
– Instant Payment Notification Preferences says that I am set ON for sending IPN messages to “http://www.unlimitedbrain.com/scripts/paypal-ipn.php”
February 5, 2011 at 3:31 am #28726wpCommerceModeratorThe product ID “AK-1234” is a generated ID from sandbox which doesn’t exist in eStore. So the product validation has failed. Either you can use a Product ID which exists in eStore (to test in sandbox mood) or you can do a complete checkout with eStore in sandbox mode. If you do a complete checkout with eStore in sandbox you won’t need to worry about correct product ID and stuff.
The instant Payment Notification (IPN) URL you have specified is wrong. It should be something like the following (replace “example” with your own domain) –
http://www.example.com/wp-content/plugins/wp-cart-for-digital-products/paypal.php
February 5, 2011 at 4:48 pm #28727kimpomaresMemberYes, of course, the AK-1234 product ID failed. I have no problem with that. And regarding the IPN, I thought it did not matter what Paypal wants to send the IPN to, since wp-eStore overrides it. Doesn’t it override it?
February 5, 2011 at 4:59 pm #28728kimpomaresMemberI re-did a test in sandbox mode as outlined in Step 4 of “what-to-do-if-the-debug-file-is-empty” with data from a real product present in my catalog.
Everything worked fine. Got all the e-mails, All the users, members and affiliates were created.
Where can my probem be since I don’t get this in “real” mode? The symptoms are still the same as described in my original post.
February 5, 2011 at 11:04 pm #28729kimpomaresMemberDeactivated all plugins and theme. Problem still persists.
February 6, 2011 at 3:39 am #28730amin007ParticipantLets focus on one mode now (live mode)… please switch to live mode and do the following:
1) Click the “Reset Debug Log” button from the settings menu of the plugin and keep the “Debaug Enabled” checkbox checked.
2) Now do a transaction and share the details of the “ipn_handle_debug.log” log file
February 7, 2011 at 11:34 am #28731kimpomaresMemberI feel silly. In Step 5 of “what-to-do-if-the-debug-file-is-empty”, my Paypal Settings appeared to say I had IPN messages turned on, but after re-setting them to force, everything started working as it should.
Thanks for a rock-solid app and for such a useful troubleshooting post.
February 13, 2011 at 9:34 am #28732davemacguitarMemberI have the exact same problem, but it endures even after the IPN paypal option is enabled and the thankyou URL added.
What is bamboozling is that eStore still does not write anything to the paypal and debug files .. they remain empty after successful real world transactions but even thought the IPN info on the thankyou page is all correct, I nore does the customer receive the product sale emails … only the paypal emails.
Any insights or double cross checks out there? Many thanks.

OH, BTW … if I DISABLE the Use WordPress Mailing System option on the settings page … THIS PROBLEM GOES AWAY … but still the ipn_handle_debug.log is blank BUT the paypal.php is now been written to.
So, for my purposes, I will not be using the wordpress mailing system.
this problem is solved.
February 13, 2011 at 11:01 pm #28734IvyMemberHi, I answered the debug file not being wrote to here:

May 8, 2011 at 8:01 am #28735kahlonMemberHi
I’m having the same issue: No Email sent to the buyer
Using eMember & eStore buy now.
I can make the purchase & return back to the thank you page but no email is sent. I’ve done in live & with the Use WordPress Mailing System (checked & unchecked). Send Emails to Buyer After Purchase is checked.
Log output below:

May 9, 2011 at 12:38 am #28736amin007ParticipantThank you for sharing the debug file. Makes troubleshooting easy. The plugin is sending the emails fine (the following two lines assure this):
[05/08/2011 7:46 AM] – SUCCESS :Product Email successfully sent to xx@xxxxxx.co.uk.
[05/08/2011 7:46 AM] – SUCCESS :Notify Email successfully sent to yy@yyyyy.co.uk.
Your issue is outside the plugin. This post will explain more:
May 9, 2011 at 9:50 pm #28737kahlonMemberHi Amin007,
Can you help please. I’ve installed the SMTP plugin but this is being blocked as well.
I’ve asked hosting support to enable wordress mailing, but they don’t seem to know what to switch on & are asking I speak to the plugin developer.
This is the URL http://freedomguider.net/info.php to view enable functions.
Please advise what do I need enabled for the mail to work with estore – any method!
Thanks again,
K
May 10, 2011 at 1:04 am #28738amin007ParticipantWP eStore has nothing to do with it. All you have to do is make sure that on your server WordPress can send mails. You can easily test it out by leaving a comment on your site and WordPress is supposed to send an email notification to the admin for that comment. As soon as you see that functionality of WordPress working you know that your WordPress mailing is working. At that point eStore will be able to send emails via WordPress too.
