So I have the Affiliate Platform, eMember, and eStore and I really do love them, they’re all great plugins. I’m just having a little problem with the Affiliate Platform.
When someone creates a member account (through eMember) I would like it to fill in their affiliate details, or at least the basic information. I get a name and some information, but not their email. When I go to export the affiliates that I should be paying in a CSV file for PayPal, the PayPal email doesn’t show up for each member.
Is there a way to automatically pull the members email (from eMember) to automatically be assigned as their PayPal email? I thought it would do that automatically..
Thanks!

There is a reason why we don’t assume a user’s email address to be their PayPal email where they want to receive payment/money.
It is not a good idea to assume that a members’s/affiliate’s email address will be the same as their PayPal email address. The PayPal email address is where you send the commission payment so it is very important to get the correct details for this field. Affiliates will get pissed off if you assume their PayPal email address and send the money to the wrong place. This is why most affiliate networks will take your “PayPal email address” value separately than the normal one. Some will require you to enter that details after you signup and log in. we do the same with the affiliate platform plugin. When you go to affiliate plugin’s signup form, you will see that there is a separate field to collect the PayPal email address where they want to receive payment.
For your scenario, I would recommend you to do the following (this is a standard practice for a company running an affiliate campaign).
Add a message like the following somewhere on your page that your affiliate users can see.
Please fill in your PayPal email address and/or Bank details and tax info before affiliate payment can be made to you.
[Maybe place a link to the affiliate profile edit area]Your affiliates will also know that these information is usually required to receive payment.

I do have one more question though, right now I have a few users who haven’t filled in their PayPal email and when I go to generate the payout report I get all of their referrer IDs, their names, and the pending amount, but the PayPal email is just left blank. I can create the Payment Report file and then Mark them as Paid, but they won’t actually receive any money because I don’t have their PayPal email. So how can I overcome this?
Is there a way to only generate reports for people who have a PayPal email filled in? Thanks!
October 19, 2012 at 6:07 am #50449adminKeymasterUsually affiliates who make money are always keen to put their details before they make money so I never see the issue you are facing
Also, there is an option to make the PayPal email address field mandatory on the affiliate signup form so this situation usually doesn’t happen.
Anyway, I have added an option to exclude affiliates who do not have PayPal email address in the system from the payout report.
Get a new copy of the affiliate plugin now:

Then go to the Payout menu and in the bottom of this page there is a setting to exclude affiliates without PayPal email address from the report that you generate.
