Upon signup, many of our affiliates are getting this error, across the top of the register page.
Affiliate ID already exists, please choose different Affiliate ID!
Thing is, the affiliate has been created and they get an email with their login info. But, many aren’t checking their email. They are taking the error at its word and trying up to 3 times before they actually get a success page. This is rather annoying on my end as the manager, having to get rid of duplicate accounts, and it’s annoying for the people trying to sign up.
Help!
July 7, 2012 at 9:06 am #47061PeterMemberHi,
How are your affiliates signing up? ie, are they filling in the affiliate signup form or are they automatically having their account created because you have integrated with the eMember plugin for instance?
Can you please send a link to your “register page” page so we can try a dummy sign up for ourselves?
July 7, 2012 at 3:15 pm #47062EricaMuellerMemberSure!

I am thinking it has something to do with whether or not they use the ‘Check Availability’ button next to their name. I signed up fine without using that. Then when I tried again after seeing all the multiple signups, I used that button and got the error after submitting.
And no, it’s not integrated with eMember.
Feel free to signup as many times as you wish. I manage the program so I can delete when you’re done.
July 9, 2012 at 2:22 am #47063adminKeymasterThank you. There is a bit of issue coming from your theme. It seems to be automatically applying uppercase to all form fields data which is messing up the input data.
Can you please do the test mentioned here and let me know what you find?

If the theme is giving you trouble you can always use option 1 of the affiliate area to get around it (explained at the following documentation):

July 9, 2012 at 2:39 pm #47064EricaMuellerMemberUnfortunately, I can’t do any of the troubleshooting because I’m working with a multi-site network and disabling plugins and themes would be across the board and could cause a huge mess.
Thanks for trying to help. If this continues to happen we may have to switch to the stand alone version, but I really hope not! We like having it look like part of the site.
Do you think if I could edit the theme so it doesn’t use caps in the inputs, that it might help?
July 9, 2012 at 3:06 pm #47065EricaMuellerMemberOk, that didn’t help. I will have to work on it some more later. I will get back to you later.
January 24, 2013 at 5:48 am #47066Rays Bone FormulaMemberWe are having the same problem…new Affiliate signs up, gets message that Affiliate ID already exists and gets caught in a loop signing up again and again getting the same message over and over. However, if they check their email, everything went through perfectly each and every time they signed up…they got a “Thank you for registering with us…etc.” and it shows them their Affiliate ID and Password. And, they get a second email from AWeber that says “Attention Affiliates, Confirm by visiting the link below.”
So, it’s working like it’s supposed to, but the message “Affiliate ID already taken” has to stop showing up.
Here is a link to our Affiliate Program New Affiliate sign up to test it…

Thanks for your help…
January 24, 2013 at 5:59 am #47067adminKeymasterThis issue happens when you are using a plugin or a theme that is doing double form submissions (this is not a normal behavior). We have added a little check in our plugin to go around this. I applied the new version of our plugin to your site and now it is working fine.
January 25, 2013 at 5:40 am #47068goldstriknParticipanti’m facing the same issue as the thread suggests. Will a new version of affiliate plugin workaround this?
January 25, 2013 at 6:49 am #47069adminKeymasterYes, it will.
January 25, 2013 at 10:32 pm #47070Rays Bone FormulaMemberThanks for your help…it appears to be working as I was immediately sent to a “Thank You” page and directed to login. I also received an email from the system that gave me my Affiliate ID and password and a link to follow to login.
Should I have gotten another email from our service provider to “confirm” in order to get on AWeber’s mailing list so we have permission to send out announcements to our Affiliates?
I did not get an email from AWeber…when you tested it, did you get an email to “confirm” your list sign-up?

January 26, 2013 at 2:52 am #47071adminKeymasterI forgot that part but it should be easy to figure it out. Please enable debug from the settings menu. Do a signup and share the content of the debug file so I can see what it did in regards to the AWeber signup.
January 28, 2013 at 3:15 am #47072Rays Bone FormulaMemberHi… We looked through all the options on the Settings for WP Affiliate and there doesn’t appear to be a box to click to require the new Affiliate to get an email that tells them to “confirm”… so that’s why we probably didn’t get one. Sorry for any confusion and thanks for your help on this.
