Tagged: ftp upload affiliate, upload wp affiliate
I followed the instructions on this page to upload the affiliates plugin to my wp site. The site is on a subdomain. http://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/wordpress-affiliate/wordpress-affiliate-platform-installation-guide-6
It doesn’t specifically say to use an ftp software to upload, but the only way I know to upload a file that is NOT a zip (which is what the instructions say to do) is by ftp so that’s what I did.
I used filezilla. The upload in filezilla went as planned, however I cannot find wp Affiliate in my list of plugins, which means I can’t activate. I tried refreshing the page, logging in and out and even restarting my computer.
Well, the first thing, is to see if you uploaded it to the proper place. Since you are uploading to a subdomain, the files might not be where you think you put them.
When you log into your FTP account, it’s usually at the root directory for the primary domain; and you have to navigate to the directory for your subdomain. I can’t give you specific instructions, because where you end up when logging in is host dependent.
Also, please make sure you are using the “Binary” file transfer mode.
You can install the plugin using your WordPress dashbaord. You can’t do that for your WP install?
No I definitely CAN install via the WP dashboard, and it would be a whole lot easier. But the instructions said to UNZIP and upload the folder, but you can’t do that via the dashboard. That’s the only reason. I’ll try it again and post here again if the problem persists.
Thanks!
Okay, it worked. Thanks!
